NC1V kldS Continued from page 11B in punts for the winners until an in terception by Brad Davis set up South Brunswick’s next score. From the 12-yard line, Morris rambled to the five before quarterback Jeremy Baker scooted to the two. Runningback Izesta Brown, who also drew praise from Force for his performance on both sides of the ball, then scored easily amidst ex cellent blocking with 30 seconds remaining in the first half as South Brunswick went to the locker room ahead 20-0. Starting the second half in com pletely opposite fashion than the first quarter, South Brunswick was thwarted in an attempt to get its air game in gear by two Devil Pup in terceptions. Camp Lejeune took advantage of the second one by Cecil Mitchell and scored on a six-yard pass from quarterback Alvin Anderson to end Kenny Waid. Anderson took the snap, backing up two quick steps be fore lofting a high floater to the end zone which Anderson ran under at the flag. The Devil Pup signal-caller repeated the play for a two-point conversion and South Brunswick’s lead was reduced to 20-8. On the first play from scrimmage after the kickoff at the Cougar 31, Baker play-faked and hurled a long bomb down the right sideline. Receiver Johnny Scott outran the Devil Pup secondary, snaring the missile for a 58-yard reception. Three plays later, Baker scored from the one with 6:01 left to play in the third quarter for a 27-8 lead after the PAT. A 51-yard pass play by Camp Lejeune’s Anderson to Steve Dolan set up the Devil Pups’ second touch down after the ensuing kickoff. Donell Williams scored and the Devil Pups trailed, 27-14, missing the two-point conversion attempt Camp Lejeune then executed an on-sides kick to regain possession, but another South Brunswick inter ception put Morris into position for a 68-yard scoring scamper on the first play as time expired in the third quarter. The PAT pushed South Brunswick into a 34-14 comfort zone. Adam Kaufhold quarterbacked the final two Cougar series, leading Force’s offense to their final touch down on the final possession -- an eight-play, 72-yard march highlighted by a 27-yard pass play over the middle to Brown, who was tackled on the five-yard line. Thomas Lowe then carried the football into the end zone for South Brunswick’s final touchdown of the night before another Bruner conver sion. Cougs visit Continued from page 11B rorce said. Your mind is a power: ful thing." Force is hoping that his Cougars’ minds will be focused against the Bucs — a team South Brunswick defeated at home last season. "I’ve been watching the Jamboree film," Force continued. "They have good quickness. If we play good, hard-nosed defense and don’t make too many mistakes, we’ll have a good shot at winning." The South Brunswick coach ex pects Laney to test his team’s pass defense — a part of the defense which has been leaky, especially on long bombs. "They threw a good bit in the Jam boree and I expect them to throw the ball some," Force said. "I feel sure they are going to try to pick on our two freshmen. They are in their fourth game and are a lot better than they were two weeks ago. "We’re going to try to correct the mistakes that we made. And we’re seeing what they are not doing and we’re going to test them." The players are primed for the Port City fight, especially running back O. J. Morris, who is exhibiting exceptional senior leadership in the early going. North Brunswick’s Scorpions return home to face Camp Lejeune after their first loss of the season at Dixon. Coach Garry Bishop’s team (1-1) led the Bulldogs last Friday night on the road until Dixon scored with 1:43 left on the clock.
